Yarraville 1-4 GeelongSC- Kit’s Report

With the season now at the halfway mark we travelled to McIvor park to face Yarraville in our round 12 match. Missing from the starting line up was Sheldon Jones who was interstate on business.

We started the game cautiously ,knowing it was going to be a very difficult match ,a game in which we were thrashed 4-1 in the corresponding fixture in round one.
Both teams had good chances to take the lead but it took a spectacular overhead kick from Matty up front to take us into the break with a slender lead.

The second half started at a furious pace with the home team piling on the pressure, but our defence stood firm and we caught them on the break, with Matty slotting home his second to ease the pressure.

This goal gave us a cushion and Yarraville dropped their heads, and as a result, Pascall, our exciting wing back, scored a third with a spectacular shot, high into the roof of the net. Ten minutes from time, Matty again caused havoc in the home defense earning a penalty and duly converting for his hat trick, in what was to be a man of the match performance.

With minutes remaining Yarraville scored a consolation goal ,the game finishing 4- 1 and with 3 points in the bag it was a happy dressing room afterwords.

This win eased the pressure on the boys taking us up to 8th on the ladder and the players have really responded to the challange and with Sugar (Michael Nikolovski ) back in the reserves this week after a long lay-off with injury and Sheldon Jones again available, we are not far away from having a full squad to choose from.

This week we play one of the league leaders in Sporting Whittlesea at home and with the team coming off a great win, we look forward to the challenge with great anticipation.
