Geelong lost under controversial circumstances after taking an early lead through Matty Gorosito.
New signing Scott Davison broke through the Hume defence only to have his shot saved by the Hume keeper, but he couldn’t deny Gorosito who promptly pounced on the loose ball and smashed it into the net.
Hume equalised when they capitalised on a mix up on the edge of the area between goalkeeper Romeo Purjila and winger Oktay Yilmaz.
In the second half Geelong was infuriated when Gorosito broke clear of the defensive line and was crashed through by the on coming Hume keeper. To Geelongs bemusement the referee only saw fit to issue a yellow card even though Gorosito was in on goal and clearly brought down by the last man(see Youtube clip for incident). Geelongs frustrations continued with three shouts for penalties denied, two for seemingly obvious handball offenses and another when pint sized midfielder Chris Psimaris was brought down from behind inside the area.
Geelong misery was compounded when Hume stole the win late in the game from a set peice.
