Following the departure of Fab Soncin, GSC provided an opportunity to Kristian Bright, known as KB amongst coaching circles, to fill in as caretaker coach.
6 games later, KB delivered 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw with the loss coming from Champions favorite, Altona Magic 1-0. The committee offered KB a full time coaching role with the seniors after round 7.
KB began coaching whilst he was still playing. He incurred an injury which kept him out for a couple of months and then turned out to be career ending. He then turned to coaching juniors, as a means of getting back to football.
After taking on the reserve and senior assistant role at Nunawading for a number of years, he then moved to Knox City in the same role for 3 seasons.
Recently he took on the position at Mazenod United FC where we had a successful season culminating with the club winning the league and promoted to state 2.
He gained his ‘youth C license’ & ‘senior C license’ and will be completing his’B license’ post season this year.
Having lived and played his whole career in the South East leagues, then moved to Geelong at the start of 2016.
The club has also appointed Daniel Vasilevski has KB’s assistant coach. Daniel has a decorative career as a player, having played in the A-League for Melbourne Victory back in 2009 where he won a championship. His last few seasons were in the NPL, notably with Moreland Zebras, South Melbourne and Heidelberg United. He is untested in the coaching department and wishes to commence his coaching career with Geelong SC. At the age of 35, Daniel has time on his hands to apply his football trade to the coaching scene.
We wish both KB and Daniel all the very best at GSC.
