On the weekend, our Men's team failed in their attempt to defend their SouthWest Tournament Title.They got eliminated at the Semi Final stage. Losing 1:0 to a strong Ballarat team featuring Manni Muscat.
Our team played well winning four matches and drawing one, comfortably topping their group.
Best players were Costa, Serg and Arkan. Leading goal scorers were Velcho and Georgi.
Good effort everyone.

Our 3rds Men's team chalked up another win on the weekend. This week our team had their way with an under-skilled Breakwater lineup. The 2-1 scoreline flatters Breakwater, it could have easily been a double digit loss for them. This win pushes our team up to 2nd position on the Ladder. To secure 2nd spot and the Semi-Final home ground advantage our boys will be needing a win at North Geelong in next week's final fixtured match.About the match;
Geelong SC began the match with a strong wind advantage and they enjoyed long periods of ball possession in Breakwater's half. Becker and Stoj combined well in the center of the park setting up numerous attacks. Miki was the main scoring threat early, running around the Breakwater defense, his two shoting efforts cleared the bar.
It was Becker who eventually opened the scoring, he fired a powerful low drive into the far side-netting, Becker had exchanged passes with Stoj and Georgi before he set himself up for the shot. Miki scored our second goal shortly after with an equally well worked goal.
The later part of the half became somewhat of a circus with many missed easy opportunities for Geelong. The best miss of the day was Robbi's, needing to tap-in a rebound from 3 meters out with the keeper on the ground and out of play, Robbi felshed his shot wide. Robbi now holds the crown for the best miss this year, taking it off Branne for his shpitz effort against North Geelong.
Breakwater scored their goal with the last play of the half, their striker caught our defense distracted and fired a strong shot past Shayka.
The second half saw Geelong weather considerable pressure from the desperate and agro Breakwater team. Geelong's defense stood firm, holding out all attacks. Kristejan, Uki, Koore, Becker, & Zoki were all outstanding in defence.
Geelong launched numerous counter-attacks but none were successful in producing an additional goal. I can remember at least 5 one-on-ones with the Breakwater keeper that were missed.
Good win team, next week we are at North Geelong.
Millie and her MAGNIFICENT SEVEN...
Sunday, 09 August 2009 23:02
In a superb display of unmatched skill, Millie was able to ensure that both the U/16 and Open Women were triumphant against Lara. With the U/16 girls victorious 8-0, Millie capped off her first game of the day by scoring a HAT TRICK. She was proudly supported by her younger sister Emily who scored 2 goals, Clarisa also scoring 2 goals and Nicole slotting her first goal of the day.The second game of the day saw the old SPARRING teams face-up once again. Though tension was evident, common sense prevailed. Continuing on from where she left off, Millie once again proved through persistence and determination that the hat trick she scored in her first game was no fluke. After Millie scored her third goal for the Open Women, Geelong went into the break with a handy lead.
However, Lara clawed their way back into the game with two quick goals. A magical positional change by Super Coach Mick denied Lara any more scoring chances. Not to be out of the limelight, a jubilant Nicole was able to put Geelong 4-2 up. With minutes remaining Millie pounced on the opportunity to score her 4th goal for the Open Women and her 7th for the day.
CONGRATULATIONS to both Geelong teams.
